What You Must Know Before You Purchase DIY Mail Order Clear Aligners
Aligning your teeth using DIY invisible braces is causing nightmare scenarios for many unsuspecting consumers, and the dental companies that offer these DIY mail order kits are now under investigation by the FCC and FTC.

Imagine that you always wanted beautiful straight teeth. You may have been bullied in school because of how your teeth look. You hide your smile because you are ashamed of how they look. You dreamed of what your life would be like if only you could straighten your teeth.

And you are afraid to go to the dentist. Maybe you had a bad experience as a child, or your teeth hurt, and you don’t want anyone poking around in your mouth.

One day you go on the internet and see an ad that promises you that beautiful straight smile that you always dreamed of having AND you don’t have to go to the dentist to get it. And look… the price is affordable!

Mail order clear aligners should come with a WARNING Label.
Consumers are led to believe that these mail order clear aligner dental appliances achieve the same results as you get in a dental office because the clear aligner appliances are “the same” that the dentist uses.

This is misleading at best. Before a dentist uses “clear aligners” to move your teeth, he/she makes sure that you are a candidate for this type of procedure.

The fact is, these companies spend millions of dollars on marketing, and although they may give a warning in the fine print, consumers are led to believe that they can straighten your teeth safely.

The problem lies in the fact that they have cut corners and don’t require a dental exam or x-rays to make sure that you can safely move your teeth. As a result, many people’s health has been permanently compromised.

They are:

Moving teeth into impacted teeth

Accelerating bone loss and gum disease

Worsening existing decay

Causing Temporomandibular Disorders and

Causing horrific malocclusions of their bite.

This has become such a problem that the FCC and FTC have opened an investigation of these dental companies offering DIY mail order kits to straighten your teeth.
As dentists, we took the Hippocratic oath to “do no harm” to our patients. Many patients require other dental procedures before it is safe to move your teeth. Moving teeth requires additional training, and even with that training, some cases get referred to a specialist.

A class-action lawsuit has also been initiated to provide legal advocacy for people experiencing any problems associated with DIY mail order clear aligners.

What these dental companies are doing is putting a stain on the dental industry by harming some patients, and as dentists, we can no longer sit quietly on the sideline. We have to speak out and warn consumers of the potential problems using DIY mail order clear aligner kits.

Our goal is to provide as much accurate information to people in our community so that they can make a safe and informed decision.
